Robert Thornton defeated Martin Adams 5-1 to win the World Seniors Darts Championship.

The Scot produced a blistering display to defeat the three time World Champion and lift his 4th Televised title.

Pocketing £30,000 The first set was won in record fashion, as Thornton won legs of 14,11 and 13. An average of 118.66. Whilst not quite as impressive in the second set, Thornton wrapped that one up in straight legs too, to lead 2-0 at the interval.

Adams won the first leg of set 3 to get his first on the board. Unfortunately for him, he once again lost the next 3 on the spin and slipped to a 3-0 deficit.

Adams’ chance to register a set looked to have come and gone in set 4. The first to go to a deciding leg. Once again though, Thornton shut the door, and continued to march towards the title..

The Englishman did fight back to win a set and extend the match beyond the second interval, much to the delight of the howling crowd. He won the 5th set 3-2 to get a chalk on the board after surviving match darts in the 4th leg!

The 6th set turned out to be the final one. The Thorn squandered more match darts at double 2, but eventually hit it to secure the title.
