Red Dragon Darts

The Shirley and District Monday Night League have completed their league programme with just the doubles knockout left to playoff. Dunky’s Boys have won the division one title with just one defeat in their fourteen games giving them a massive six points advantage over runners-up Tippetts Bar who lost their final game of the season to Dunky’s 6-3, but despite the defeat, Tippetts finished their campaign four points to the good on third in the table Lodge who also lost their final game going down 7-2 at home to Wharf.

With a final 7-2 success over Sharmans Cross Wythall Legion took the division two title with 24 points, four more than their nearest rivals Solihull Municipal who finished the season in style by handing their visitors Legion Royals a 9-0 whitewash to leave them two points ahead of third placed Highwood.

Four Oaks and District

This week the Four Oaks and District League staged their Individuals Doubles Knockout sponsored by K and B Installations with all the games played at the Red Lion, Station Road, Erdington. 

Thirty-nine pairs played for the Richard Winslow title, the only competition in the league that allows two players from different teams to compete together. 

After the first round, six pairs from the second division remained, sadly from those six only P.Nicholls and T.Hines (Charley’s Flights) made it to the semi-finals where they made their exit losing 2-1 to N.Smallwood and D.Walton (Walmley CSC Flights). The other semi-final saw J.Clarke and M.Pearce (Golden Hind Lions) beat J.Kavanagh and K.Green (Walmley CSC Flights) 2-0. 

J.Clarke and M.Pearce made the final without losing a single leg, while N.Smallwood and D.Walton had a harder fight to reach the final. It was glory for the in-form pair Clarke and Pearce as they chalked up a 3-1 victory over Smallwood and Walton to lift the winner’s trophy.

Kings Norton

A convincing 6-1 win away to Toby Jug in the Kings Norton League has seen Copper Fox open up a four points lead at the top of the table as their nearest rivals E57 lost 4-3 at home against Bournebrook who were fourth in the league but drop to fifth one leg of average behind Thurlestone who beat bottom of the table Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club 6-1.

Third in the table Rubery Legion won 5-2 at Kings Heath to put them on the same 22 points as both Thurlestone and Bournebrook, all three teams are six points off the top.

At the other end of the table there was a rare win for Grant Arms whose 4-3 success at Northfield saw them move up the table two places from a previous next to bottom position.

Camp Hill

It was Singles Knockout week for the Camp Hill League with both the men’s and women’s competitions played off at the Sheldon Marlborough Cricket Club.

The quarter-finals of the men’s event saw Liam O’Donnell, Len Carter, James Hinkley and Phil Henderson make their exits while the semi-final losers were Anthony Daley and Dave Heighway, both from Tyseley Newbies. 

Winner of the event was Dan Lee from league leaders Aston Inn Nomads who had a final win over Mick Tilley representing Roost Rebels.

Taking the women’s title was Julie McGuigan with Lauren Riopedre runner-up.

Sheldon and District

With the top of the table clash between Dunky’s Boys and Sheldon Marlborough Arrows a late result in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League, a 7-2 win for Langley Arrows against Highwood Gerry’s Boys has seen them temporarily take over at the top of the table until the result is in, as a win for either Dunky’s or Sheldon would see them go to the top of the table on average.

In division one there was a second defeat in nine for leaders Sheldon Dukes as they slipped up losing 6-3 playing away against Maggies who are just two places off the foot of the table. Second in the division Hollywood Social moved to within two points of Sheldon Dukes with a 5-4 win at next to bottom of the table Irish Centre and with a win in their game in hand Hollywood could go top of the division.

In division two Willclare Sports and Social are in the only undefeated team in all three divisions, their latest success being a 6-3 win at Hampton and Solihull CC to keep them two points ahead of Journeys End who have taken over the number two spot after their 6-3 win at Raven and the 6-3 defeat of Kingshurst Labour Club (who were previously second) by Shirley Misfits.

Netherton

The Netherton Thursday Night League are up to game number eighteen and the results for the week saw no positional change in the league table whatsoever. Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club have a game in hand and remain in pole position with a six points lead after adding their 6-3 win at Fairfield and second place Townsend Social Club beating Netherton Conservative Club 8-1.

Bulls Head are third in the league, they won 6-3 at Old Hill Cricket Club but are a massive twelve points behind the leaders and although fourth placed Fairfield have a game in hand on Bulls Head they are six points behind them.

Stourbridge and District

White Horse made it ten wins in as many games in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League when they won 6-1 at Bell ‘B’. They have a game in hand and a two point lead on second-placed Britannia who had a narrow 4-3 win at home against Church Tavern. Third-placed Woodman had a bye this week, they and fourth in the league Ten Arches ‘A’ are on 14 points, some six points short of White Horse with Ten Arches ‘A’ having played one game more than both White Horse and Woodman.

Sedgley and Gornal

No change in the top five places in the Sedgley and Gornal Tuesday Night League as leaders Old Bulls Head made it fifteen straight wins when they won by a huge 9-0 at Meadow Lark. With no result for second in the league New Inn they, with 24 points are six short of Old Bulls Head with effectively a game in hand and two ahead of Gornal Labour Club and Seven Stars, the Labour Club losing 5-4 at Five Ways, Seven Stars the opponents for New Inn.

Rowley

After a very long enforced COVID break the Rowley Monday Night League is once again up and running and after the first round of fixtures Plough and Harrow are the early pacesetters handing out a 9-0 whitewash to their hosts Loyal Lodge. Close behind Plough comes Bell who had an 8-1 win against Roost. 

After the top two come four teams Ex Serviceman’s, Romsley Cricket Club, White Swan and Whiteheath Tavern who in turn all won 7-2 against Windmills End, Tividale FC, Three Diamonds and Wonder.

There were maxims for Simon Edwards (Spring Meadow), Connor Allen (Gate Hangs Well), R.Grigg (White Swan) and Roger Kinsella (Bell) while Simon Edwards (Spring Meadow), M.Harding (Three Diamonds) and Kelvin Chambers (Plough and Harrow) all recorded nine darts games. Bell’s Connor Whitehouse had a 160 break,  not a bad start to the new campaign.

Stourbridge and District (Wednesday)

Top versus bottom this week in the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League as leaders Bird in Hand ‘E’ hosted bottom of the table Bell ‘B’. The result was a 5-2 win for Bird ‘E’ to put them on 18 points from eleven games and keep them two points to the good on the chasing Fox Inn (Lye) team who are second, they also won 5-2 in their fixture away to next to bottom Raven.

Although third and fourth placed Bell ‘A’ and White Horse are respectively four and six points short of Bird in Hand ‘E’ they in turn have two and three games fewer and wins in those games would put them level on points with the leaders. The latest games for Bell ‘A’ and White Horse saw them both win 4-3 against in turn Ten Arches ‘A’ and Ten Arches ‘B’, not a good week for Ten Arches.

Gilbert’s Bar

The Gilbert’s Bar Singles League have got the second season underway and leading the 43 strong league after the first week is Michele Pritchard who is the only player to have completed two games. Michele had a very creditable 4-4 draw with Tom Hollowood and then followed that with a 5-3 win over Gemma Barrett-Jenkins to put her on 12 points, two more than Alex Simmons, Ben Johnson and Simon Pritchard who all won their opening games 8-0 against respective opponents Jamie Aplin, Keith Hollowood and Warren Bower.

Black Country Super League

Just one rearranged fixture played in the Black Country Super League which saw High Acres ‘B’ beat White Swan 4-1. The result had no effect on the league table High Acres ‘B’ remain sixth on 64 points and White Swan eighth on 53. Leaders Railway Tavern are on 107 points, just one ahead of second placed Yeltz Bar ‘A’.

Hilltop

The Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League have got their new season underway and the good news before a single dart was thrown is that the league attracted a further three teams this season.

Setting the early pace are Dewdrop ‘A’ and Waggon and Horses who in turn both won 5-2 against Dewdrop ‘B’ and Albion.

Close behind the leading two teams come Miners Arms ‘B’, Vine ‘A’ and Horseley Tavern who all had close 4-3 victories over respective opponents Miners Arms ‘A’, Vine ‘B’ and Tamebridge.

Sow and Pig s had a bye.
