The WDF British Open weekend returns to the Royal Spa in Bridlington from Friday 18 September to Sunday 20 September, staging the British Open and British Classic across the men’s and women’s classifications, alongside youth and girls events. The weekend stands as one of the most enduring and respected fixtures on the World Darts Federation calendar.
Established in 1975 – mere months after the inaugural Winmau World Masters – the British Open is among the longest-running ranking events in the sport.
What elevates the event beyond a standard ranking tournament is its unique blend of history, accessibility and genuine prestige. Past winners include legends such as Alan Evans, Eric Bristow, John Lowe, Raymond van Barneveld and, more recently, the teenage sensation Luke Littler – proof that the oche at Bridlington continues to attract both established stars and the next generation.
Both events are promoted with Tri Nations Darts and currently carry WDF Silver Ranking status, with an approximate £18,000 prize fund on offer across the weekend.
The reigning Champions demonstrate that it’s not all about the old timers as Mitchell Lawrie and Paige Pauling lifted the 2025 titles. We can expect to see plenty more generaltional battles across both Open and Women’s categories this year.

THE EVOLUTION OF DARTS: DartsWorld’s Dedicated Legacy Area
The schedule runs across all three days, Friday opens with the England International Men’s Trial, before the Open and Ladies Pairs gets under way in the evening.
Saturday is given over to the British Classic Singles, in both the open and ladies classifications, alongside the round-robin Youth Open.
The weekend closes on Sunday with the British Open Singles, again run across both classifications.
Formats and funds
Singles matches are played best of 7 legs up to the semi-finals, with the finals contested over best of 11.
The Youth Open follows a round robin format, moving to best of 5 from the last 16 through to the semi-finals and best of 9 in the final.
Prize money is on the same scale across both events: The open singles winner takes £1,500, with £750 for the ladies singles winner, scaling down through the rounds to £45 for a last-32 finish.
The Open Pairs carries a £1,500 prize fund, with £1,000 for the Ladies Pairs.
Entry fees are £28 for open and ladies singles in both the British Open and Classic, £24 for the pairs events, and £15 for the Youth Open.
