Girvan and Heneghan Maiden Wins.

Red Dragon Darts

The PDC Winmau Development Tour saw Conor Heneghan and Nathan Girvan pick up their maiden Development Tour titles on Saturday, in winning Events 8 & 9, as the PDC’s Youth Tour weekend continued in Wigan.

Ireland’s Heneghan dropped just 9 legs on route to the final in Event 8, as he recorded victories over Nathan Potter, Kieron Robinson, Daniel Perry, Leon Remde, Christopher Holt, Charlie Manby and Rusty-Jake Rodriguez, to set up a clash with Jitse Van der Wal.

The final began with Heneghan racing into a 3-0 lead, with winning legs coming in 12,16 and 15 darts respectively, before Van der Wal picked up his first and only leg in the tie with a 14 darter in leg four, as Heneghan then hit back-to-back 21 dart legs to take the tie and pick up the £2,000 first prize.

In Event 9, it was Nathan Girvan who was victorious, with the Scottish Teenager dropping 11 legs on route to the final, as he recorded victories over Rusty-Jake Rodriguez, Charlie Manby, Tom Heldt, Cavan Phillips, Connor Hopkins, Adam Gawlas and Keelan Kay, to set up a clash with Nathan Rafferty.

Nothing separated the pair for the opening four legs of the tie, with each leg being won on throw, before Girvan fired in three consecutive legs in 16,13 and 12 darts respectively, to take the tie and deny Rafferty the chance of picking a 2nd title of the weekend, after his success in Friday’s Event 6.

The PDC Winmau Development Tour weekend concludes on Sunday with Event 10 taking place in Wigan, as play commences from 10:00 BST, with all live scores and results to be viewed at tv.dartconnect.com
