Warner Time: Terriers Belt Holder Gaining ADC Ranking Momentum

Adam Warner was victorious in the Streamline Taxis York Open for the first time this year, beating Lee Budgen 5-2 in the Final of Event 11 to claim 64 ranking points. The Sheffield man stays in seventh in the current rankings but only just trailing Graham Hall by nine points.

The win makes it two wins from two weeks for the Englishman as the next two Winmau Championship Tours approach, with the Terriers title holder hoping for a strong run in Manchester to boost up the current ADC Rankings.

Matt Jackson added another win making it four tournament victories in six days of action, beating PDC tour card holder John Brown 5-1 in the Final of the Albert Nelson Gainey Memorial Cup Round Robin averaging 97.70. The match included five maximums over six legs of darts, with the 38-year-old opening with an 11 dart hold of throw finishing 44 in two darts.

Jordan Brooks included an 88 checkout in beating Andy Tucker 4-3 and winning the Qs of Blackpool Opening Day of Matchplay GSoD to claim his first ADC title of the year. The Sheriff has enjoyed strong runs in his last couple tournaments, reaching the Semi-Finals of the Southport Jubilee Grand Slam last month.

The Fleetwood man appeared at Lakeside back in April, with Lee Shewan his conqueror and good mate also taking part in Blackpool on Saturday. The pair were placed into the same group with Brooks coming out on top in all three of his group stage matches despite a lower average over the three games than the Cobbler.

Callum Goffin the ADC Number 17 won his third title of the year, beating Tom Cromwell 5-3 with a score of 94.52 and including two maximums in the Final. The Manchester man walks away with 32 points, finding victory in the Riley’s Liverpool July GSoD with checkouts of 78 in the second leg with two darts before his highest at 100 straight after leg to lead 2-1 and hold for the first time in the match.

Tony Wood played the South Gosforth Club July Knockout in Newcastle and reached the Quarter Finals, losing to an impressive Alan Davie who averaged 83.69 in a 4-1 win. The 52-year-old moves further ahead of Steve Brown in fourth gaining 8 points for his run-on Sunday, extending his lead in third to 18 points.

The Championship Tour 1 runner-up will hope to go one better in Manchester next month, with the form starting to show after picking up his first couple of tournament wins in the last month including Bristol Friday Night Flyer in Bar 501, the night before the two Winmau Championship Tour Events in Thornbury.

Paul Nesbitt won the event in Newcastle to move up to tenth in the ADC Rankings, beating Andy Parks 4-1 closing the fifth and final leg with a 14 dart hold of throw earning 64 points for his troubles. Nezzy is 33 points off Lee Budgen in ninth after earning his second tournament win this year.

Matt Jackson sits nearly 200 rankings points clear of second-placed Adam Atkinson after he opted to miss a week allowing the number 1 to gain a further 16 points on him after his win in Bristol. G Man Graham Hall runs the risk of losing his spot in sixth after a real run of form from Adam Warner, having not played in the ADC since his appearance at the Winmau Championship Tours at the start of the month.
