Kevin Painter became the new European Champion at the second Undisputed Series held by the Amateur Darts Circuit in Bristol, beating James Richardson 10-8 including three maximums over the course of the crucial match.
The Artist showed throughout that he was the better player of the two, averaging six points more than his opponent closing out victory on double sixteen with his second dart. After enjoying a successful first year on the Seniors Circuit, the Billericay man displayed the confidence he currently has having played in the Premier League and a World Championship Final over a successful darting career.
The 55-year-old is also into the World Darts Open as a seed after a successful outing in Bristol, with the global competition scheduled to take place at the start of December, another successful idea for the future of grass roots darts where 256 players will all battle for a £10,000 winners prize.
Full credit must be given to James Richardson for what was a valiant effort as the former European Champion, beating PDC tour card holder John O’Shea to win it with the Irishman reaching a Final on the Pro Tour this year.
World Seniors Championship Winner Robert Thornton challenged for the title but was halted by Ruthless in what turned out to be a successful defence of his belt in The Thorn’s own backyard.
Ryan Palmer after being awarded his Warriors Title belt at Winmau Championship Tour 3 in Thornbury, successfully defended his crown in the penultimate match of the night. The Lion beat Mitch Davies 7-2 finishing double four with his first dart to remain the man to beat, currently sitting 25th in the current ADC Rankings.
The 34-year-old included two maximums over the nine legs of darts having the quality to fend off the threat of his compatriot in Bristol, averaging 83.13 in the tungsten tussle. The Englishman reached the Semi Finals of CT 3 and now has retained his Warriors Title, can we see a rise in the rankings with the next couple of Championship Tours in Manchester only around the corner.
Steve Brown came out a 6-3 winner against Mike Norton in the Final match of the night in Bristol being the highest ranked player taking part. Having impressed in his hometown at the start of the month, the Bomber continued at the Patchway Labour Club including a two double top finish and a 142 checkout en route to victory.
Justin Hood averaged 85 in his Grudge Match over Sam Cankett, winning 6-3 to close out an impressive night at the office for Happy Feet. Sally Smith: Somerset’s very own won the first ever Women’s Grudge Match beating Chris Savvery a regular on the PDC women’s series 5-2, becoming the Warrior’s regional champion with her win.
Darren Davies was the other victorious thrower in the opening match of the night against Chris Hartrey, winning 6-3 with an average just shy of 80 including a checkout of 100 in the seventh leg.
A successful second Undisputed Series for the ADC and with the Championship Tours around the corner, we will have a clearer idea of who will be making their way to the World Darts Open as the seeded players, with 32 spots on offer.
