Jackson Not Sticking on 21

Matt Jackson is now 297 points ahead in the ADC Rankings, restoring his lead at the top having missed out on Championship Tours 5 and 6 in Manchester due to playing in the Online Live League. A return to the oche follows with the Albert Nelson Gainey Memorial Cup event 3 taking place in Bar501 on Saturday.

The Action currently sits on 1161 points still the only player to hit 1000 points in the Amateur Darts Circuit having won 21 competitions so far this year. The Englishman recently claimed victory in the Grand Prix Finals Night at the Highbridge Social Club, a venue he is well acquitted with having won there previously in 2022.

The 38-year-old beat Darren Davies who made an appearance in a grudge match at the second undisputed series in Bristol last month, winning 5-0 in the Final with an impressive average of 93.94 including checkouts off 77 and 80 to close out the final leg.

Jackson also reached the Final of the Bar501 Kingswood Round Robin, with Robbie Long claiming consecutive wins in the tournament held every week on Thursday nights. The ADC Number 1 managed a ton plus checkout of 118 in the third leg but was not good enough on the night as his opponent earnt himself 32 points, making it 64 points in two weeks for the Bristol man (Long).

Steve Brown also played and will return to tungsten action in his hometown of Bristol at the weekend, looking to solidify his spot in second as well as claw some points back on the current leader. The Bomber sits on 864 points in the rankings leading Adam Atkinson in third by 108 points knowing if he keeps his position, a seeded spot at the World Darts Open will be achieved.

The ADC Number 2 reached the Quarter Finals on Thursday night in Bristol losing a last leg decider to eventual winner Robbie Long, with the match consisting of two ton plus checkouts between the pair. The Winmau man earnt four points for his troubles but will hope for more over the weekend, as he looks to add to his ten titles earnt so far.

Adam Atkinson will return to action for the first time since Championship Tours 5 and 6 in Manchester, as he is registered for the Turbinia Open in Newton Aycliffe hoping to claw some points back in the rankings.

The Tour 1 winner will have to come through a difficult field in the Northeast with the likes of Raymond Marshall, Kevin McDine and Ryan Anderson also entering as the tournament sets to stage on Saturday.

There is also the Riley’s Chorlton August GSoD on Saturday with ADC Number 5 Adam Warner registered for the event. The Terriers Title holder hasn’t played since he reached the Final of Championship Tour 6 earlier this month, losing to the current Championship Tour leader Lee Budgen 6-4 in the Final.

Regardless the Sheffield thrower was one of the biggest earners at the Forum Hall in relation to points having reached the Quarter Finals on the Saturday. Only Adam Smith-Neale earnt more having reached the Semi-Finals on the Sunday after beating Simon Preston 6-0 in the Final of Tour 5.

There are no events scheduled for Sunday this week but with the players in action on Saturday, expect changes to the rankings as the race for the World Darts Open continues to heat up.
