Conor Heneghan took the early lead on Monday, in ending Day 1 of Group A, top, after winning three of his five matches, with the eighth week of Stage 1 commencing at the Modus Super Series.
Week 7 of Stage 1 saw Graham Usher seal his place in Champions Week, with a further five spots up for grabs, including Week 8’s overall weekly winner.
Irish youngster, Heneghan, made his return to the Super Series by winning three matches from five, as he recorded victories over Kevin Painter, Adam Smith-Neale and Moreno Blom, with his only defeats coming against Andy Hamilton and Steve Brown.
Elsewhere, Brown, Smith-Neale and Hamilton all ended the day on 6 points each too, but sit behind Heneghan on leg difference, as Kevin Painter sits 5th on 4 points and Debutant Moreno Blom bottom on 2 points.
The Modus Super Series continues on Tuesday with the six players returning, hoping to boost their chances of securing a place in Saturday’s Finale, with Heneghan leading the way thus far. Play will begin at 9:30am GMT and will be streamed live on Online Darts TV YouTube channel or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
