Scott Williams was victorious on Sunday, in winning his 4th PDC Challenge Tour title of the year, after defeating Thibault Tricole in the decider, as the fourth weekend of the PDC’s second-tier tour season came to a close in Leicester.
Williams, who won the year’s opening two Challenge Tour events, picked up his first tournament win since Event 6, as he reached the final by recording victories over Derek Maclean, Luke Tucker, Christian Kist, Raymond Marshall, John Cook, Kai Fan Leung and Dan Read, to set up a clash with Tricole.
The final began with Tricole pinning back-to-back 15 darters, before Williams took complete control of the tie, in winning five straight legs, which saw him seal victory with a 19 darter to take the title and looks set to secure a two-year tour card for the first time, heading into the year’s final four events in October.
The PDC Winmau Challenge Tour returns between 15-16th October with Events 21-24 taking place from The Morningside Arena, Leicester, with the Top 2 on the yearly Order of Merit securing two-year PDC Tour Cards and spots at the 2022/23 World Darts Championship.
