THE generational tungsten tussling of Week Eight at the MODUS Super Series darts was decided in favour of the experienced rather than the fearless. Scott Robertson was victorious on Saturday as he was crowned the weekly winner, after defeating Johnny Haines in the final to secure a place in Champions Week and winning the weekly £5,000 top prize.
Three distinct generational groupings were identifiable going into the night; a teenager, a senior and a raft of those who might be described as midults. Those aged 30 to 50 had the numerical advantage with 4 representatives but the bookends has impressed mightily during the week.

Robertson, 48, who entered the finale having won Group A earlier in the week, began the night by winning just one of his two group phase matches, as he firstly defeated Lewis Cook, 16, before suffering a defeat to Reece Robinson.
However, the Scotsman did progress through to the Semi Finals where he came up against Jamie Owens and from there, Robertson defeated the Englishman, 4-1, to book his place in the final.
In the decider, Robertson came up against veteran Johnny Haines, aged 62, who’d defeated Reece Robinson in the last four, and the tie became a one-sided affair as the Scot sealed a 4-0 whitewash victory against Haines to seal a place in Champions Week once again as well as collecting the £5,000 first prize.
It could be argued that the midults – aged 30 to 50 – had the upper hand overall with three from four semi-finalists and the eventual winner. Yet the veterans and teens gave decent accounts of themselves and impressed at all stages of the week.
The MODUS Super Series returns on Monday with the start of Week Nine, with the first of three days of Group A commencing, with the field including three-time major champion Robert Thornton.
