Chris Mason, Gary Robson, Richie Howson, Andy Jenkins and Tony O’Shea all secured their places in Saturday’s finale on Friday after coming through their respective groups at the Modus Super Series, to join Mark Dudbridge, the winner of Group A earlier in the week.
Mason, who entered Friday’s play on 10 points from the opening day of Group C, topped the group overall, despite only winning two of his five matches during Friday’s play, as he recorded victories over Mark Layton and Barrie Bates, with his defeats coming against Alan Norris, Gary Robson and John Walton, all in last leg deciders, as he ended on 14 points from a possible 20.
Elsewhere, Gary Robson also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after finishing 2nd overall on 14 points, but finished behind Mason on leg difference, with Alan Norris narrowly missing out on 12 points, despite completing a clean sweep with five wins from five on Friday, as Mark Layton and Barrie Bates finished 4th and 5th on 8 points each and John Walton bottom on 4 points.
In Group B, Richie Howson topped the group overall, after winning three of his four matches on Friday evening, as he recorded victories over Wes Newton, Paul Nicholson and Tony O’Shea, with his only defeat coming against Andy Jenkins, to end on 14 points from a possible 16.
Elsewhere, Andy Jenkins and Tony O’Shea will also compete in Saturday’s finale, after finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively, with Jenkins ending on 12 points and O’Shea on 6 points, as Paul Nicholson and Wes Newton finished 4th and 5th respectively on 4 points each.
The Modus Super Series continues on Saturday with the conclusion of Week 12 with the six players battling it out for just 1 spot up for grabs at Champions Week, with play commencing from 10:00pm GMT. Play will be streamed live on Online Darts TV YouTube channel or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
