PDC Winmau Challenge Tour Events 21 & 22

French Duo Thibault Tricole and Jacques Labre were victorious on Saturday, in winning Challenge Tour Events 21 & 22 respectively, as the final weekend of the PDC’s second tier tour season commenced at the Morningside Arena, Leicester.

Tricole, who lost in the final of Event 20 in the previous Challenge Tour weekend last month, went a step further this time, as he reached the final by recording victories over Carl Dockerill, James Green, David Wawrzewski, Steve Haggerty, Ryan Hogarth, Ben West and Carlo Van Peer, to set up a clash with Gian Van Veen.

The final began with Tricole racing into a 4-0 lead, with winning legs coming in 16,17,15 and 14 darts respectively, leaving Van Veen needing to win five on the spin, without fail, to keep his title hopes alive. The Dutchman did pull three legs back, before Tricole sealed the victory in leg eight with a 16 darter to take the title and pick up a 1st within the PDC.

In Event 22, Tricole’s fellow countryman, Jacques Labre was victorious, as he reached the final by recording victories over Jeroen Mioch, Darryl Pilgrim, Scott Williams, Francois Schweyen, Ryan Hogarth and Robert Owen, to set up a clash with Lee Evans.

The final began with Labre racing into a 2-0 lead, with the Frenchman’s winning legs coming in a total of 36 darts. The tie then saw six consecutive holds of throw, which ended in Labre sealing the victory in leg eight with a 14 darter to take the title and pick up a 1st within the PDC, on a landmark day for French darts.

PDC Winmau Challenge Tour season concludes on Sunday, with Events 23 & 24 taking place in Leicester, with play commencing at 10:00 GMT, as all live scores and results can be viewed at tv.dartconnect.com. The top two players on the final 2022 Challenge Tour Order of Merit will seal a PDC Tour Card for 2023/24 and a place at the 2022/23 World Darts Championship. Also, the winner of the Challenge Tour Order of Merit will book a place at next month’s Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton.
