Alexander Merkx was victorious on Saturday as he crowned the winner of Week 2 at the Modus Super Series, after defeating Robert Rickwood in the final to secure a place in Champions Week and winning the weekly £5,000 1st prize.
Merkx, who entered the finale having won Group B on Thursday and Friday, won just one of his group phase matches, as he lost his opener to Robert Rickwood, before defeating Graham Hall to book his place in the Semi Finals, where he came up against Jarred Cole, and defeated the Former Development Tour Event winner 4-1 to seal his place in the final.
In the decider, Merkx came up against Robert Rickwood, a previous winner of Darts World’s Amateur Award, for the second time on the night, and this time he got his revenge over his opponent by defeating Rickwood 4-2, sealing the victory with a 17 darter to pick up the Week 2 crown, a place at Champions Week and the £5,000 weekly 1st prize.
The Modus Super Series returns on Monday with the start of Week 3, with the first of three days of Group A commencing, with the field to be announced in due course. Play will commence from 9:30am GMT and will be streamed live on the Modus YouTube channel, Sporty Stuff TV or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
