Thibault Tricole was victorious on Sunday, in winning his 2nd Challenge Tour title of his career, after defeating Owen Bates in the decider, as the opening weekend of the PDC’s second tier tour season came to a close in Milton Keynes.
Tricole, who picked up his maiden title within the PDC towards the end of 2022, went all the way once again, as he reached the final by recording victories over Gary Butcher, Robert Grundy, Adam Atkinson, Diogo Portela, James Hurrell, Wayne Jones and Jarred Cole, to set up a clash with Bates.
The final began with Bates taking the opener in 15 darts, before Tricole rattled off four successive legs in a total of 60 darts to move 4-1 ahead and within one of victory. Bates’ did pull one leg back, before The Frenchman sealed the victory in Leg 7 with a 17 darter to take the tie, 5-2, and deny Bates, who lost out in a 2nd consecutive final after losing in the decider of Saturday’s Event Four.
The PDC Winmau Challenge Tour returns between 16-17th March with Events 6-9 taking place at Halle 39, Hildesheim. All live scores and results will be viewed via tv.dartconnect.com.
