Jon Worsley was victorious on Saturday as he crowned the winner of Week 1 at the Modus Super Series, after defeating Andy Hamilton in the final to secure a place in Champions Week and winning the weekly £5,000 1st prize.
Worsley, who entered having won Group A earlier in the week, won just one of his group phase matches, as he lost his opener to Jordan Brooks, before defeating Steve Brown to progress through to the Semi Finals, where he came up against Shane McGuirk, and ‘The Womble’ defeated The Irishman, 4-2, to book his place in the final.
In the decider, Worsley came up against Andy Hamilton, who’d defeated Jordan Brooks in the Semi Finals, and nothing separated the pair throughout the tie, but multiple missed match darts cost Hamilton and gave Worsley the opportunity to capitalize, in which he did, by sealing a 4-3 victory, picking up the £5,000 1st prize and becoming the first man through to Champions Week of Stage Three.
The Modus Super Series returns on Monday with the start of Week 2, with the first of three days of Group A commencing, with the field to be announced in due course. Play will commence from 9:30am GMT and will be streamed live on the Modus YouTube channel, Sporty Stuff TV or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
