Beaton’s Baltic Sea Battles Continue

Red Dragon Darts

Former World Champion Steve Beaton continued his fantastic run at the Baltic Sea Darts Open, after recovering from 5-3 down in legs to beat Premier League star Nathan Aspinall 6-5 in Kiel, Germany.

The Bronzed Adonis averaged his highest-ever score of 106.10 in dispatching Adrian Lewis 6-2 in the First Round of the first PDC European Tour event of the year. The Coventry-born thrower included an 86 finish on the bullseye to level the match at 5-5 before crucially breaking the Asp in the eleventh and final leg.

Beaton will face 10th seed Joe Cullen in the Last 16 after the Rockstar beat former World Youth Champion Arron Monk 6-4 in the afternoon session, with the former Masters Champion including six 180s.

Gerwyn Price continued his good form in the PDC with a staggering 109.07 average, in beating debut tour card holder Graham Usher 6-2, missing just three darts at double and including checkouts off 102 and 120 in Germany.

The Iceman who sits third in the Premier League Darts table, claimed the first Euro Tour title of 2022, beating Peter Wright 8-4 in the Final of the International Darts Open.

The World Number 4 advances to the Third Round and will face 6th seed Dave Chisnall, with the Belgian Darts Open champion beating Lewy Williams 6-2 in the afternoon session on Saturday.

Michael van Gerwen suffered an early exit in the first Euro Tour of the year, falling to a 6-4 defeat at the hands of recent World Championship Quarter Finalist Stephen Bunting.

The Bullet beats the player who won Night 4 of the Premier League two days ago in Dublin with a 96.92 average and included a fantastic 132 finish having hit trebles twenty and twelve before finding double eighteen, to delight those in attendance in Kiel.

The Baltic Sea Darts Open resumes on Sunday from midday UK time with Euro Tour Number 1 Luke Humphries opening the Third-Round action against Premier League star Dimitri van den Bergh.
