Mitchell and Winmau Call Time

Red Dragon Darts

There seems to be quite a large scale re shuffle going on amongst the main manufacturing companies and their player rosters. In the post covid era there is quite a lot of adjustment to come and both manufacturers and players are trying to get ahead of what comes next.

In the latest example Winmau has parted with Scott Mitchell ahead of darts 2023 season. Scott and Winmau mutually decided to end their agreement, said Marketing Director Simon Hall. “For more than 14 years, Scott has been a great ambassador for the Winmau brand, we’ve had a front-row seats to see him win the Lakeside World Championship, climb to BDO ranked No.1 player and cement himself as one of darts most liked players ever, and we wish Scott and his family every success moving forward.”

Scott Mitchell added “Winmau have been at my side for over a decade and whilst we can’t agree how to move forward together right now, we have parted on great terms as I move my career forward on a new path, we’ll always share a great love for the sport of darts and I’d like to thank them for such wonderful support over the last 14 years”.

The 2015 Lakeside World Champion will continue his playing career on The Seniors Tour, The MODUS Super Series and any relevant PDC, ADC and WDF events.

Mitchell becomes the latest senior player to jump from their long term manufacturer as the new opportunities for them to continue their careers expand. The Boardroom suspects that there is a divergence between what players, and possibly their management, believe events such as the Seniors Tour, MODUS Super Series and WDF tour, and the resultant media exposure, are worth and what manufacturers are seeing from a direct sales view.

In addition there seems to have been a renewed interest in non UK sales and marketability. The next 3-5 years will see both of these new areas develop and we will be the new ecosphere develop with interest.
