Hendo and Van Peer Collect Challenge Crowns

Red Dragon Darts

Berry Van Peer and John Henderson were victorious on Friday, in winning Winmau Challenge Tour Events 6 & 7 respectively, as the PDC’s 2nd tier tour weekend commenced at Halle 39, Hildesheim.

Van Peer, who lost his PDC professional status at the end of 2022, reached the final in Event 6 by recording victories against Darren Williams, Bodien Fogarty, Joshua Richardson, Brett Claydon, Martijn Dragt, Conan Whitehead and Eddie Lovely, to set up a clash with Peter Jacques.

The final began with the pair holding each other’s throw in the opening two legs, before Van Peer rattled off three consecutive legs in a total of 46 darts to move 4-1 ahead and within one of victory. Jacques did pull one leg back, before the Dutchman sealed the victory in Leg 7 with a 17 darter to pick up a 2nd Challenge Tour title of his career.

In Event 7, John Henderson was victorious, with the Scotsman reaching the final by recording victories against Dalibor Smolik, Steve Haggerty, Danny Lauby, Alan Norris, Dom Taylor, Reece Colley and Stefan Bellmont, to set up a clash with Ron Meulenkamp.

Nothing separated the pair throughout the final, with there being seven straight holds of throw, ending with the first break coming from Henderson in Leg 8, which proved to be decisive, as he sealed the victory, 5-3, with a 15 darter to pick up a 1st individual PDC title, having won the World Cup of Darts back in 2021.

PDC Winmau Challenge Tour weekend concludes on Saturday, with Events 8 & 9 taking place in Hildesheim, with play commencing at 10:00 CET, as all live scores and results can be viewed at tv.dartconnect.com.
