Chas Barstow, Matt Clark, Richie Howson, Johnny Haines and Darryl Fitton all secured their places in Saturday’s finale on Friday after coming through their respective groups at the Modus Super Series, to join Robert Thornton, the winner of Group A earlier in the week.
Barstow, who entered Friday’s play on 6 points from the opening day of Group C, won four of his five matches to top the group overall, as he recorded victories over Matt Clark, Gary Stafford, John Nelson and Sam Cankett, with his only defeat coming against Neil Duff, to end on 14 points from a possible 20.
Elsewhere, Matt Clark also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, in dramatic fashion, as he also ended on 14 points and joint 2nd with Sam Cankett, but progressed through due to the head-to-head statistic between the pair, whilst Neil Duff finished 4th in 12 points, John Nelson in 5th on 4 points and Gary Stafford bottom on 2 points.
In Group B, Richie Howson topped the group overall, despite only winning two of his four matches on Friday Evening, as he recorded victories over Lee Cocks and David Davies, with defeats coming against Johnny Haines and Darryl Fitton, to end on 12 points from a possible 16.
Elsewhere, Johnny Haines and Darryl Fitton also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after the pair finished 2nd and 3rd respectively overall on 8 points each, edging out Lee Cocks, who also ended on 8 points, but missed out on leg difference, whilst David Davies finished bottom on 4 points.
The Modus Super Series continues on Saturday with the conclusion of Week 6 with the six players battling it out for just 1 spot up for grabs at Champions Week, with play commencing from 10:00pm GMT.
