Alexander Merkx, James Richardson, Alex Spellman, Richard North and Nathan Girvan all secured their places in Saturday’s finale on Friday after coming through their respective groups at the Modus Super Series, to join Luke Littler, the winner of Group A earlier in the week.
Merkx, who entered Friday’s play on 8 points from the opening day of Group C, won four matches from five again to top the group overall, as he recorded victories against Steven Johnstone, Jason Askew, James Richardson and Mark Graham, with his only defeat coming against Kenny Neyens, to end on 16 points from a possible 20.
Elsewhere, James Richardson also progressed through to Saturday’s finale in dramatic fashion, with ‘Ruthless’ ending on 10 points overall, but edging out both Kenny Neyens and Jason Askew on leg difference, whilst Steven Johnstone ended in 5th on 8 points and Mark Graham bottom on 6 points.
In Group B, Alex Spellman topped the group overall, with the North American completing a clean sweep once again, with four wins from four, as he recorded victories against Adam Mould, Nathan Girvan, Richard North and Gary Blades, to end on an incredible 16 points from a possible 16.
Elsewhere, Richard North and Nathan Girvan also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after the pair finished 2nd and 3rd respectively overall, with North ending on 10 points and Girvan on 6 points, whilst Adam Mould and Gary Blades ended joint bottom on 4 points each.
The Modus Super Series continues on Saturday with the conclusion of Week 10 with the six players battling it out for just one spot up for grabs at Champions Week, with play commencing from 7:30pm BST. Play will be streamed live on the Modus YouTube channel, Sporty Stuff TV or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
