GVV and Teehan Claim Development Titles

Red Dragon Darts

Gian Van Veen and Ciaran Teehan were victorious on Saturday, in winning Development Tour Events Eight & Nine respectively, as the PDC’s Youth Tour weekend continued in Wigan.

Van Veen, who was competing in the Dutch Darts Championship on Friday evening, made an immediate trip over to Wigan to compete in the remaining events of the Development Tour Events of the weekend. The Dutchman reached the final firstly in Event Eight by recording victories against Patrik Williams, Ciaran Teehan, Lloyd Walker, Tom Garfield, Declan Cox, Jim Moston and Dominik Gruellich, to set up a clash with 16-year-old Thomas Banks.

The final began with Van Veen racing into a 2-0 lead, with winning legs coming in 20 and 13 darts respectively, before Banks fought back to level up the tie at 2 a piece in a race to five. The Dutchman then won three consecutive legs, which saw him seal the victory in Leg Seven with a 15 dart hold of throw to pick up a 2nd Development Tour title of the year.

In Event Nine, Ciaran Teehan was victorious, with the Former Tour Card Holder reaching the final firstly by recording victories against Seppe Dasseville, Dominik Nebe, Connor Hopkins, Marc Petermann, Jack Vincent, Bradley Roes and Jarred Cole, to set up a clash with Jurjen Van der Velde.

Nothing separated the pair throughout the final, however advantage of throwing proved to be decisive, with a run of seven straight holds of throw, seeing Teehan seal the victory in a last leg decider with a 14 darter to pick up a 1st Development Tour title of his career.

The PDC Winmau Development Tour weekend concludes on Sunday with Event 10 taking place in Wigan, as play commences from 10:30 BST, with all live scores and results to be viewed at tv.dartconnect.com
