Cambridge and Northants Play Catch-Up

One rearranged fixture, Match Two in the Andy Wheeler Fisheries Championship Division of the UKDA National League has been played off between Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire which saw the home side win 23-13. The ladies were in fine form for Cambridgeshire the ‘B’ side winning Saturday’s game 6-0 and the ‘A’ side winning on Sunday 4-2 with respective match awards going to Amanda Harwood (22.77) and Amy Grant (23.12). Rebecca Rose took the award for Northamptonshire’s ‘A’ side with a 19.41 average.

The men’s ‘B’ finished all-square at six each with David Shaw (29.04) Cambridgeshire’s top player and Robbie Commerford having the same accolade for Northamptonshire (27.25). The men’s ‘A’ saw Cambridgeshire win with a narrow 7-5 result, their Ashley Coleman in top form recording a superb 31.81 average while Darren Williamson (28.45) was Northamptonshire’s man of the match.  

The overall 23-13 in favour of Cambridgeshire for the weekend saw them move up from a two places off the bottom of the division position to fourth on 185 points, eighteen short of leaders Dorset but only four fewer than second placed Cleveland. Prior to the fixture Northamptonshire were eighth in the table and despite the defeat move up to sixth on 177 points.
