Jacob Taylor, Owen Bates, Jon Worsley, Darryl Pilgrim and Scott Taylor all secured their places in Saturday’s Champions Week finale on Friday after coming through their respective groups at the Modus Super Series, to join Luke Littler, the winner of Group A earlier in the week.
Taylor, playing only due to the withdrawal of Lukas Wenig, entered Friday’s play on 8 points from the opening day of Group C, won three matches from five to top the group overall, as he recorded victories against Owen Bates, Jelle Klaasen and Matt Clark, with his two defeats coming against Justin Hood and Steve West, to end on 14 points from a possible 20.
Elsewhere, Owen Bates also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after finishing 2nd overall on 12 points, edging past Steve West, who missed out in 3rd on leg difference, whilst Matt Clark and Jelle Klaasen finished 4th and 5th on 8 points, with Justin Hood finishing bottom on 6 points.
In Group B, Jon Worsley topped the group overall, after winning three of his four matches, as he recorded victories against Mike Gillet, Darryl Pilgrim and Scott Taylor, with his only defeat coming against Mike Warburton, to finish on 10 points from a possible 16.
Elsewhere, Darryl Pilgrim and Scott Taylor also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after finishing 2nd and 3rd overall on 10 points each, whilst Mike Warburton finished 4th on 8 points and Mike Gillet bottom on 2 points.
The Modus Super Series continues on Saturday with the conclusion of Champions Week with the six players battling it out for the record breaking £20,000 1st prize, with play commencing from 7:30pm BST. Play will be streamed live on The Modus YouTube channel, Sporty Stuff TV or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
