Wanderer Finds A Way: Jones Claim Challenge Tour Title

Wayne Jones and Berry Van Peer and were victorious on Friday, in winning Winmau Challenge Tour Events as the PDC’s second tier tour weekend commenced at the Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes. 

Van Peer, who picked up a title at the last Challenge Tour weekend in March by winning Event Six, went all the way once again in Event 10, as he reached the final firstly by recording victories against Steven Kirkham, Josh Church, Adam Jenkinson, Lee Cocks, Ian MacKenzie, Chris Landman and Arjan Konterman, to set up a clash with Dragutin Horvat.  

The final began with Van Peer taking the opener in 22 darts, before Horvat levelled up in the following leg in 18 darts with the pair chasing a 2^nd title of the year so far. Van Peer then won back-to-back legs in a total of 31 darts, before Horvat halved the deficit with a 2^nd 18 dart leg of the tie to make it 3-2 in a race to five. Van Peer won back-to-back legs for the second time in the match, sealing the victory in 13 darts and a 5-2 success to pick up a 3^rd Challenge Tour title of his career.  

In Event 11, Wayne Jones was victorious, with the 58-year-old veteran reaching the final firstly by recording victories against Carlo Van Peer, Colin Osborne, Matthew Dennant, Adam Mould, Ciaran Teehan, Owen Maiden and Cam Crabtree, to set up a clash with compatriot, Daniel Ayres.  

The final began with Ayres racing into a 2-0 lead, with winning legs coming in a total of 36 darts, before Jones, a former European Championship finalist, rattled off five consecutive legs and sealed the victory in Leg Seven with a 13 darter and a 5-2 success to pick up a 4^th Challenge Tour crown of his career and a 1^st since 2017. 

PDC Winmau Challenge Tour weekend continues on Saturday, with Events 12 & 13 taking place in Milton Keynes, with play commencing at 10:30 BST, as all live scores and results can be viewed at tv.dartconnect.com.
