Luke ‘The Nuke’ Is Super Series Champions Week Winner

Red Dragon Darts

Luke Littler was victorious on Saturday as he crowned the winner of Champions Week at the Modus Super Series, after defeating Jacob Taylor in the final and picking himself up a record £20,000 in prize money.

Littler, who entered the finale having won Group A earlier in the week, won both of his group phase matches in defeating Owen Bates and Darryl Pilgrim to progress through to the Semi Finals, where he came up against Scott Taylor, and from there, he defeated the Former Tour Card Holder, 4-1, to book his place in the final.

Canadian Jacob Taylor was bidding to emulate some of the other unlikely past ‘lucky loser’ or late qualifying fairytales such as Denmark 19902 European Championship winning football side or John Daley’s late reserve PGA victory in Golf.

In the decider, Littler came up against Jacob Taylor, where he then dispatched the Canadian, 4-1, with the 16-year-old sensation clinching up the £20,000 first prize and joining a list consisting of Conan Whitehead and Raymond Smith to win Champions Week at the Modus Super Series.

Each of the Champions Week winners so far has been a story in themselves, with Whitehead being a tale of second chances shortly after becoming a parent and Raymond Smith travelling from Australia to continue s superb resurgent career. But, surely a £25,000 total prize being claimed by a prodigiously talented 16-year-old trumps even those tales of ‘darting daring do’?

The Modus Super Series returns on Monday with the start of Week One of Stage Four, with the first of three days of Group A commencing, with the field to be announced in due course. Play will commence from 9:30am BST and will be streamed live on the Modus YouTube channel, Sporty Stuff TV or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
