Darts World ambassador Colin Osborne claimed Stage 4 Week 4 at the MODUS Super Series, after clinching a last leg decider against former World Champion Christian Kist (4-3) to book his place in Champions Week, earning £5000 in Portsmouth.
The Wizard secured his place in Saturday’s Finale after impressing in the 2nd session of Group B, losing just the one match as he secured a 2nd place finish.
The Middlesbrough born player was drawn into Group 1 with Christian Kist and ADC Qualifier Peter Hudson, with the top 2 in the group guaranteeing a spot in the Semi Finals.
Osborne started his Finals Night campaign with a 4-3 win over the Rock, which confirmed his spot in the Last 4 after Hudson lost the opener in the Group against Kist.
It was the 2012 BDO World Champion who topped Group 1 with a 4-2 victory over the Winmau player, including a 116 finish and an 80% checkout rate.
Colin went into the Semi Finals where he would face Group B winner Martijn Dragt, who came through Group 2 along with Ryan Furness. Osborne secured a 4-2 victory over his Dutch opponent, wrapping up victory with a 122 finish on the bullseye, delighting those in attendance at the Live Lounge.
The Wizard went through to face Christian Kist for the 2nd time in Saturday’s Finale, breaking a Super Series record as he became the player to have made the most appearances in the competition.
Osborne started from where he left off in his Semi Final, taking the opening leg in the Final with a 136 checkout on double 8. Former World Champion Kist responded as he fought back to send the Final into a last leg decider, after finding tops to finish 56.
Colin held his nerve in the deciding 7th leg, after finding double 10 with his 2nd dart as he booked his place in the MODUS Super Series Champions Week, picking up his 2nd victory in the latest iteration of competition since it’s introduction last year.
The Wizard now holds the records for total games played and most weekly wins with 5 along with Robert Owen.
The Super Series returns next week with the likes of French international Thibault Tricole, ADC Qualifier Daniel Lee, and Lisa Ashton all hunting down the weekly £5000 prize in Portsmouth.
