Thomas Junghans and Stefan Bellmont took the early lead on Thursday in ending Day One of their respective groups, top, as they look to join Andy Boulton in Saturday’s finale at the Modus Super Series.
Junghans, who entered Group C having finished 5th in Group A earlier in the week, won four matches from five to take the early lead, as he recorded victories against Josh Richardson, Scott Mitchell, Tommy Lishman and Adam Atkinson, with his only defeat coming against James Hurrell.
Elsewhere, Hurrell also ended the day on 8 points, but sits behind Junghans on leg difference, whilst Richardson and Mitchell sit 3rd and 4th on 6 points each, with Lishman sitting in 5th on 2 points, but it was a disappointing day for Adam Atkinson, who again suffered five straight defeats for the third time in four days.
In Group B, Stefan Bellmont took the early lead, after completing a clean sweep with four wins from four, as he recorded victories against Paul Hogan, Owen Bates, Sebastian Bialecki and Alexander Merkx, dropping just five legs across the evening’s play.
Elsewhere, three players in Bates, Bialecki and Merkx ended the night 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively overall on 4 points each, whilst Paul Hogan suffered four defeats from four on his return to the Super Series.
Modus Super Series continues on Friday with players continuing to battle out as they aim to join Andy Boulton in Saturday’s finale, with Junghans and Bellmont taking the early lead thus far. Group C will commence from 1pm BST and Group B will commence from 10pm BST.
