Former 2 Time BDO World Champion Scott Waites was amongst those to qualify for the Second Round of the 2023 Hungarian Darts trophy, defeating Latvian Madars Razma 6-4 in Budapest.
The Englishman has qualified for the remaining Euro Tour events for the year and found his scoring form in the Hungarian capital, hitting 2 180s and 10 140s.
Latvian Razmatazz found the highest checkout of the match, with a 110 finish in the third leg to break the Waites throw. However, the Bradford born player found his highest checkout of 82 with his last dart at double tops, to secure his place against Peter Wright in the Second Round in Hungary.
The battle of the former 2-time World Champions will be an intriguing one at the MVM Dome, with Peter reaching the Semi Finals of the recent World Series of Darts Finals.
Scotty 2 Hotty has gotten the better of Snakebite before, winning a last leg decider at the 2022 German Darts Grand Prix.
The Scotsman though has shown his capabilities on the PDC Euro Tour stage, defeating Dave Chisnall 8-6 in the Final of the Czech Darts Open earlier in the year.

Gian van Veen reached Round 2 in Budapest with a 6-2 victory over Northern Irish veteran Brendan Dolan, including a 96 checkout against the History Maker.
GVV reached the Quarter Finals at the 2023 European Darts Matchplay, including a 114.15 average in whitewashing Damon Heta who scored 103.96 himself.
The Dutchman defeated Martin Schindler in the Last 16, before losing out to James Wade in the Last 8 but will hope for another strong run at the MVM Dome this weekend.
Van Veen goes through to face World Matchplay champion Nathan Aspinall in the Second Round, with the Asp recently reaching the Final of the World Series of Darts Finals.
Michael van Gerwen who claimed victory at the WSoD will face Ross Smith in his opening match of the Hungarian Darts Trophy, with Smudger defeating Robert Owen 6-2 in Friday’s evening session.
Elsewhere, defending champion Joe Cullen will open his title defence against James Wade, after the Machine beat William O’Connor 6-2 including a checkout rate of 54.55%. Gerwyn Price will face former Development Tour Number 1 Nathan Rafferty, after the Natural clinched a 6-4 victory over former BDO World Champion Stephen Bunting.
Nandor Major became the first Hungarian to win on the European Tour, after defeating Ricardo Pietreczko 6-4 with a 180 and 9 140s, going through to face tournament 2nd Seed Damon Heta in Saturday’s afternoon session.
The action returns on Saturday from 12pm live on PDC TV and Viaplay, with German international Martin Schindler kickstarting proceedings against Polish youngster Sebastian Bialecki.
