Deta’s Double and Zijlstra Fights Back for a Selsey Title

Play The Pro Darts Scorer

Deta Hedman added the England Masters and England Classic titles to her collection in Selsey, while Anca Zijlstra staged a comeback to win the England International Open Ladies crown.

England Masters Ladies: Hedman 5-1 Hyde

Hedman got the weekend’s Ladies Silver ranking titles off to a flying start, beating Lorraine Hyde 5-1 in the England Masters final.

The WDF Women’s World Champion landed just over a week after winning the Europe Cup Women’s Singles, and she showed no signs of slowing down, hitting two 180s and a 13-darter on her way to a 78.74 average.

The 13-darter came in the third leg, where a 180, 140 and 99 left tops and she hit it in one dart. She’d opened with a 180 and a 62 finish in the first leg, then took the second after Hyde left herself on 4, before the Scotswoman stopped the rot in the fourth.

That was all she;d get, with Hedman taking the last two, checking 32 to take the title.

England Classic Ladies: Hedman 5-3 Hyde

It was the same matchup for the Classic final, and this time Hyde made her work for it, with Hedman winning 5-3 to double up.

The final started with Hedman taking the opening leg, and Hyde hitting back to lead 2-1. Hedman responded with a 93 finish to level, then a 76 to go 3-2 ahead, before Hyde levelled again at 3-3 with a 74 finish.

Hedman wasn’t to be denied. She took the seventh by hitting tops before selling the title in the eighth in 14 darts, finishing 76 for the second time. She averaged north of 80, but the key factor here was Hedman’s finishing.

England International Open Ladies: Zijlstra 5-4 Gibbons

The Bronze-ranked International Open Ladies final was the drama of the weekend, with Zijlstra coming from 4-2 down to beat Macy Gibbons 5-4 and strengthen her bid for a Lakeside return in December.

The former Dutch International took the opening leg, but Gibbons won four of the next five, underpinned with a crucial 115 finish to lead 4-2. Zijlstra then won the last three. She took out 89 in two darts in the seventh, then checked 36 in the eighth. She sealed it in the ninth on double 1.

Gibbons led the averages (68.65 to 67.35) and it was heartbreak for a player who had already won the England Classic Girls title earlier in the day.

Zijlstra meanwhile takes the £300 top prize.
