MEEK Marches into World Cup Pairs Final:
Winmau Team 360-star Hannah Meek and partner Paige Pauling reached the 2023 WDF World Cup of Darts Girls Pairs Final, representing England on the opening day of action in Esbjerg.
The pair will contest the Final on Friday in Denmark, where it will be England taking on Scotland represented by duo Sophie McKinlay and Holly Frew.
England opened their World Cup campaign in Group B and were joined by hosts Denmark, Netherlands, and Austria, starting with a 3-0 win over Denmark.
The pair’s only defeat of the day came against Austrian pair Marie Messner and Jessica Wendl, who clinched a last leg decider in the English duo’s second match of the day.
But a second whitewash victory this time against Dutch pair Tessin Chantel and Daphne Camjin, saw Hannah and Paige finish as Runner’s Up in Group B behind Austria with both nations moving onto the Quarter Finals.
England moved onto face Belgium in the Quarter Finals, with duo Kyenta Ysewijn and Aurelie D’Hondt advancing with Scotland from Group D ahead of Germany, Finland, and Canada.
Meek and Pauling once more showed they were in no mood to mess about, claiming a victory without reply from the Belgian duo, with England advancing to the Semi Finals where they would tackle the Irish pairing of Christina Byrne and Rebecca Allen and Esbjerg.
Ireland though would fall to the same fate as Belgium, Netherlands and Denmark suffered earlier in the day, as the Team-360 star and the Belgian Open Girls Champion would book their places in the WDF World Cup Girls Pairs Final with a 3-0 victory in the Last 4.
England will face Scotland in the Final, with Sophie McKinlay and Holly Frew defeating Group B winners Austria 3-1 in the Quarter Finals, before beating Mongolia 3-1 in the Semi Finals in Denmark.
Congratulations to Scottish duo Sophie McKinlay and Holly Frew who defeated Mongolia 🇲🇳 to reach Friday’s Finale! 🏴
