DRA Suspend Three Over Betting Irregularities

Red Dragon Darts

The darts Regulation Authority has suspended Prakash Jiwa, Andy Jenkins and Jack Main over suspicious betting patterns on matches. The three have been suspended from attending or competing in DRA sanctioned events whilst further enquiries are carried out.

Perhaps the most impactful is Warwickshire’s Jiwa who most recently featured in the Modus Super Series in June but pulled out of the event on June 2 due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’.

The 53-year-old former tour card holder came through the Indian Qualifier to reach this year’s PDC World Championship, which gets under way next month, but the suspension raises major question marks over his participation at Ally Pally.

Jenkins, a former PDC World Championship semi-finalist, has competed in the Modus Super Series in many occasions often as a reserve or standby due to living close by.

Earlier this month, the 52-year-old won a World Seniors Open Series event and is ranked third on the WSDT Order of Merit.

It is not yet known which matches under investigation involving Jiwa and Jenkins and MODUS have release a statement carried below.

Main, 27, held a PDC Tour Card from 2021-2022 and has competed on the PDC Challenge Tour this year, bit it is a game with Lisa Ashton during the MSS that seems to have garnered attention from the DRA:

On June 9, 2023, the International Betting Integrity Association reported suspicious betting on the match between Main and Lisa Ashton in the Modus Super Series. There is no suggestion that Ashton was involved in manipulating the outcome of the match in any way.

After an investigation, DRA Chairman Nigel Mawer decided that Main has a case to answer for breaches of the DRA betting rules and has subsequently been suspended from attending or competing in DRA sanctioned events until the conclusion of the hearing.

The matter will be referred to the DRA Disciplinary Committee where a formal hearing will take place at a date to be confirmed.

The Modus Super Series is an independently run, live streamed and televised event in Portsmouth held each week.

The event carries an annual prize fund of around £1 million, with 12 players will competing in group matches from Monday to Friday and six qualifiers moving into ‘Finals Night’ each Saturday.

Every 13 weeks, a ‘Champions Week’ takes place to determine the overall winner from the 12 weekly winners as they compete for a £20,000 top prize.
