Darren Johnson and Chas Barstow took the early lead on Thursday in ending Day One of their respective groups, top, as they look to join Jake MacMillan in Saturday’s finale at the Modus Super Series.
Former PDC Tour Card Holder, Johnson, who last appeared at the Super Series back in August, made his return by taking the early lead in Group C, after winning four of his five matches, as he recorded victories against Jan McIntosh, Alan Norris, Jim McEwan and Brett Claydon, with his only defeat coming against Johan Engstrom.
Elsewhere, Brett Claydon also ended the day on 8 points, but sits in 2nd behind Johnson on leg difference, whilst Johan Engstrom sits in 3rd on 6 points, Jim McEwan in 4th on 4 points, with Alan Norris and Jan McIntosh sitting 5th and 6th respectively on 2 points each.
In Group B, Chas Barstow took the early lead, after completing a clean sweep with four wins from four, as he recorded victories against Joe Croft, James Richardson, Martin Thomas and Leonard Gates, dropping just seven legs across the night.
Elsewhere, Leonard Gates sits in 2nd on 6 points, James Richardson in 3rd on 4 points, Martin Thomas in 4th on 2 points, but it was a disappointing return to the Super Series for Joe Croft, who failed to register a victory, having suffered four defeats from four.
Modus Super Series continues on Friday with players continuing to battle out as they aim to join Jake MacMillan in Saturday’s finale, with Johnson and Barstow taking the early lead thus far. Group C will commence from 1pm GMT and Group B will commence from 10pm GMT.
