Our roving open player rocked up in Wilmslow last week. He was there to take part in one of those series of events and a finals night style tournaments hosted at the Waggon and Horses:

After a long day on the road, and no time for home cooked food, first priority was some snap and its fair to say food was hot, tasty and plentiful.

The bar staff were an absolute delight and the evening is off to a lovely start.
The competition being held was a 9 week run with 8 qualifier weeks and a finals night. This being week seven and still 42 players turned up for a weeknight competition, very impressive. The set up for the competition was a beaut!
There were four Blade 6 boards, for the event itself, upstairs with Winmau surround and lighting sets. This area was upstairs and separate from the main pub providing a very nice dedicated set up.

Two more boards downstairs became pre-lim and practice boards. The event was run, by Jayne Gallagher and Patricia Shelley, in the ‘old school’ pen an paper way, proper darts!
It was a fantastic event with a great atmosphere and very friendly bunch. Although the prize was only £50 for the winner (and £25 for the 2nd place player) the finals on the 14 of December offer a greater array of prizes.

Raffles and a card were held to the benefit of Stockport Disability darts which is a very good cause indeeed.
I am very much looking forward to my return visit after managing to win the comp and join: Kyle Bell, Terry Jepson, Andy Cass, Tom Pritchard, Adam Watson, James Bradburn and now little ol’ me, AJ Urmston Toft.
