Broken Cross to Break Christmas and New Year

Red Dragon Darts

The open road is always busy at this time of year! They are plenty of events to choose from.

After hearing many things and recommendations, One that caught my eye was the Broken Cross Open in Macclesfield. Big car park that was full to the brim shows how popular this tournament is.

It had a great set up for tournaments, with 8 match boards plus a stage board all fresh Winmau blade 6 triple core and 4 practice boards. Really impressive set up.

Main Match Boards

They had multiple events running today, the main open, plus ladies open and blind pairs competition.

The main open had some 136 players which is very impressive 18 ladies in their event and with most also playing in the blind pairs event a great festive day of darts was had. With a bonus for highest checkout, plenty of money was there to be won!

Some notable names were here, as it was the festive period Forsty the Throw man Mark Frost was here as were Stuart Kellet and man in form and Lancashire county player Andy Cass was also there. On the ladies side Paula Jacklin was present as were Ladies World Open champion, Vicky Martin.

In a superb match Andy Cass edged out Stuart Kellet in a tense high scoring game.

Last 16 to winner

The final was played between Chris Needhan who beat yours truly and Pete Hadfield in a great final. Pete winning the £400 winners purse!

A special mention to Nigel Daniel’s on his 170 winning the highest checkout award.
