Simon Rimington was the latest winner in the Vault 5.0 Series in the Yorkshire & Humber region, after beating Liam Jackson 3-1 in the Final at the Halfway House in Pudsey.
2 Group Stages saw the top four players from each group qualify for the Quarter Finals, with Simon coming 4th in his respective group stage.
Stuart Monaghan and Josh Sanderson recorded hundred percent records, with Monaghan hitting the highest average of the night in beating Harry Dixon 2-1, scoring 79.80 including 3 140s in Pudsey.
Both finalists were the first to deal Stuart and Josh defeats, with Liam Jackson including a 71.93 first 9 dart average before finding a crucial break of throw in the deciding leg of his Quarter Final with Sanderson.
Rimington defeated Monaghan 3-2 in another Quarter Final to set up a Semi Final with Ashley Deighton, who whitewashed Bradley Hamerton 3-0 despite Bradley racing out the traps with scores of 137 and 134 at the Halfway House.
Simon included an impressive 96 checkout courtesy of 2 Double 19s to break the Deighton throw in the second leg. This started a trend of successive break of throws in the contest, with Ashley responding with a 46 checkout to reduce the arrears to just a leg.
A 133 set up shot to leave Double 20 though unfazed Rimington, who returned to the oche to find tops and clinch a place in the Final.
Liam Jackson came through the other Semi Final a 3-1 winner against Tom Harker, breaking throw crucially in the fourth leg with a 70 finish.
Simon clinched his first Round Robin success in the Vault 5.0 Yorkshire & Humber region, defeating Jackson 3-1 in the Final to move 34th in the rankings with the Top 32 securing places at Finals Night on the 28th of January.
Tom Harker’s run to the Semi Finals leaves him in the all-important 32nd position, with legs difference keeping him ahead of Leon Ellerington and Halfway House winner Simon Rimington.
Elsewhere, Nathan Beckett crucially won the Vetz Club, Pontycymer Round Robin tournament in the Wales region to move 32nd in the rankings. Nathan included a 3-1 victory against the Vault 5.0 Welsh Region number 2 Mike Huntley in the Semi Finals, before whitewashing Kevin Allen 3-0 in the Final.
Jordan Brooks defeated Wes Newton and David Evans in winning the Tee Time Golf Centre Round Robin tournament in the Northwest region, beating Stretch 3-0 in the Final in Blackpool with an 86.71 average including a first 9 score of 99.44.
Evans despite defeat in the Final sits atop of the Northwest Rankings, with 6 legs keeping the Red Dragon player ahead of 2nd placed Harry Gregory, whilst recent Qualifying School Final Stage Runner Up Tom Cromwell and Stuart Kellett are all but certain to feature at Finals Night.
The end of this week signals the end of the Vault 5.0 Round Robin format, where we will discover the Top 32 players from all competing regions that will make their way to their respective Finals Day competitions.
