Coleman in UK Open Qualifier Quartet

Red Dragon Darts

The latest four names to be added to this years UK Open field are: Ashley Coleman, Jenson Walker, Harry Gregory and Harry Lane. Each secured their qualification for the 2024 UK Open in last weekend’s Rileys Amateur Qualifiers.

The quartet will be among the 16 Rileys Amateur Qualifiers taking part in the 160-player event at Butlin’s Minehead Resort, which will take place from March 1-3.

Coleman – who competed in the Final Stage of UK Qualifying School earlier this month – won through Saturday’s Rileys Norwich Qualifier to book his place at Minehead.

The 26-year-old won through a trio of deciding-leg tussles to book his place in Saturday’s decider, before sweeping aside Brandon Western 5-1 to seal his spot in a maiden PDC televised event.

Teenage prospect Walker progressed through a 98-player field in Solihull to confirm his televised debut, running out a comprehensive 5-1 winner against Ryan Hawkes in Saturday’s finale.

The 17-year-old underlined his credentials with a nine-darter on the Winmau Challenge Tour just over a week ago, and he will be one of the youngest competitors involved in this year’s event, alongside World Championship runner-up Luke Littler.

Elsewhere, former JDC World Championship runner-up Gregory will also make his UK Open debut in March, after storming through Sunday’s Rileys Liverpool Qualifier.

The 18-year-old wrapped up proceedings with a 5-1 demolition of Lee Palfreyman, who made the last 32 of the UK Open back in 2013.

Meanwhile, Lane – a product of the Winmau Challenge Tour – won through the Rileys London Victoria Qualifier for a second consecutive year to confirm his UK Open return.

Walker, Coleman, Gregory and Lane will be joined at Minehead by former World Championship qualifier Johnny Haines and debutant David Sumner, who were successful in the opening round of qualifiers on January 20-21.

The Rileys Amateur Qualifiers continue on February 3-4, with further knockouts set to take place at Rileys clubs in Harlow, Chorlton and Aberdeen.

Entries will cost £10 and are available through the Rileys website – with entry open to all players over the age of 16 who do not hold a PDC Tour Card.

Online entries will close at 1700 GMT on the day before a qualifying event takes place.

Please note that some venues cannot permit entries for under-18s. Please see the Rileys website for full details.
