Lukes Dominate Premier League Betting Market

Red Dragon Darts

THE betting public are torn between the two Lukes, Humphries and Littler, with the in-form duo joint 11/4 favourites to land the Premier League Darts title ahead of opening night in Cardiff.

The World Championship finalists are set to go head-to-head again in the Welsh capital as this year’s tournament gets under way on Thursday, with world champion Humphries edging ahead of the teenager at 7/2 to be crowned winner of night 1.

Michael van Gerwen joins Humphries as 7/2 favourite on the opening night, but the Warrington sensation is hot on their heels at 4/1 having already bagged his first PDC title at the Bahrain Masters.

Littler’s sensational arrival on the scene at the World Championships and subsequent heroics which included a first leg 9-darter against Nathan Aspinall in Bahrain has seen him overtake a host of footballers and Olympians to become an early 9/2 favourite for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, while odds of 25/1 have even been snapped up on him beating Phil Taylor’s record of 16 world titles.

There is almost a 50-50 split in Premier League support between the Lukes but with Michael van Gerwen well backed too, it looks like one of the most competitive contests in years.

At the wrong end of the Premier League betting, Peter Wright is odds-on at 4/5 to finish bottom of the table, with Nathan Aspinall also unfancied at 15/8 second favourite for the wooden spoon.
