Will MVG Defy Odds With Exeter Fourth?

Red Dragon Darts

Ahead of the fifth round of the 2024 Premier League, lets have a look at some of the title sponsor BetMGM’s odds prior to Thursday’s fixtures in Exeter as leader MVG chases a fourth successive nightly win!

There is little in any of the last 8 games and its not hard to see why. All 8 men are now playing very well with even Peter Wright , who had been struggling, recording 103+ average last week and pushing young Luke Littler all the way.

It’s the nightly win that might be worth a look or even some of the niche betting, we think there is value in Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright or Luke Humphries putting a spoke in the wheel of the MVG wagon.

Consult the Darts World duo Harry and AJ’s views on the latest podcast and see if they help or hinder your decision making. No blame will be accepted!

Fixtures

  • The top two ranked players in the world kick off the action on Thursday, with Luke Humphries facing Michael Van Gerwen. Van Gerwen starts as a slight favourite priced at 7/10 while Humphries is priced at 27/25 to advance to the semi finals.
  • Last week’s runner up, Nathan Aspinall faces a winless Peter Wright in the second fixture of the night. Aspinall is priced at 13/20 whilst it’s 59/50 for Peter Wright to record his first win of the Premier League season.
  • Wales’ Gerwyn Price heads into his quarter final fixture with Rob Cross as a slight favourite, priced at 6/4. Cross is available at 59/50 to get the win.
  • Luke Littler and Michael Smith round off the quarter final action. Littler heads into the match at 12/25 and Smith is available at 8/5.
  • We’re yet to see a nine dart finish during the first four weeks of the tournament but we’ve seen both Nathan Aspinall and Gerwyn Price go ever so close. It’s 8/1 for a nine dart finish to be thrown in Exeter.

Night Winner

After his stunning form in recent weeks, Michael Van Gerwen heads into the evening as the favourite priced at 11/4. But no one has won 4 of these evenings in a row. Luke Littler is still searching for his first Premier League round win and is priced at 3/1, while current World Champion Luke Humphries is available at 9/2. It’s 14/1 for Peter Wright to claim his first round win of the season.

  • Michael Van Gerwen – 11/4
  • Luke Littler – 3/1
  • Luke Humphries – 9/2
  • Gerwyn Price – 6/1
  • Nathan Aspinall – 8/1
  • Rob Cross – 9/1
  • Michael Smith – 10/1
  • Peter Wright – 14/1

We’re set for another thrilling night of action as the sport’s biggest roadshow heads to Exeter this week. Michael Van Gerwen has started the BetMGM Premier League season in scintillating form with three wins in the past three weeks and he’ll be looking to stretch his lead at the top of the table with another win this week. Just two points separate second and sixth place so it’s all to play for as eight of the world’s best players battle it out for a place in the top four.
