The Amateur Darts Circuit’s flagship Championship Tours got underway on Saturday with wins for Fallon Sherrock, Andy Bolton, Vicky Pruim and Bradley Brooks.
The Ladies events are now operated under the separate banner (WADC) and once more attracted a stellar field, with the biggest names in the women’s game. The overall entries totalled over 90 which is a superb effort and a real base for the organisation to build from.
It was , perhaps, their biggest star who claimed the first event in fine style. After an early battle with legendary Deta Hedman it was The Queen of the Palace who eased through to a final against former Lakeside runner up Lorraine Hyde.
The day’s second WADSC event was claimed by veteran Sweden representative Vicky Pruim.
The Queen of the Palace beat Lorraine Hyde 5-0 in the Event 1 Final, before Sweden International Pruim survived a late fightback to defeat Eleanor Cairns 5-4 late on Saturday night.
“I played well at the beginning of the game, I let Eleanor back in and I knew you cannot do that. The second event it all came to together, and I’m happy with that” said Vicky to Darts World
Andy Bouton maintained his superb spell of recent form with victory in the opening main draw event. X Factor has already claimed a double on PDC Challenge Tour and is in superb form generally. In his post event interview the Scot claimed to have not scored or played very well!
Having defeated Gary Stone in the Event 1 Final to claim the first £1000 on offer at Eston Sports Academy Andy commented:
“I just played steady all day and took my chances. I took finishes at the right time and it’s kind of what my game is all about. When it happens, I’m more than happy with that”.
Boulton had a tough run and had to dispose of Adam Atkinson, Mark Frost, Alan Bell, Jamie Kelling and then Gary Stone.
Bell had been in superb form clocking our 160 and 170 finishes already and we would see later that Frosty could still throw, man.
Bradly Brooks edged out former World Champion Neil Duff with a resilient performance in the second of the days main draw finals.
Winmau Championship Tour Event 1 Final:
Andy Boulton 5-0 Gary Stone
Winmau Championship Tour Event 2 Final:
Bradley Brooks 5-4 Neil Duff
