Moving swiftly on from their last launch just one month ago, Mission have today released their latest batch of products for the darting general public, with a host of new and unique products on offer. I’ve been granted an early look at what’s in today’s launch, and I’ll be providing my initial thoughts and reactions on what’s included.
Mission Torus ST
A truly innovative and unique product, the Mission Torus ST fills a long anticipated gap in the market. The Torus ST can attach to most soft-tip boards, including Granboards, in order to provide a professional level lighting solution. The light can be attached either through self-tapping screws, or by the use of pins, both of which come provided with the light.
Mission Saturn Fenrir
Named after the great wolf Fenrir, son of Loki in Norse Mythology, the Mission Saturn Fenrir are perhaps the dart I’m most eager to try out. An interesting scalloped design, sandblasted to provide additional grip, is a very enticing combination, and one I’m eager to put to the test. While it appears, and this seems to be a theme of this launch, to be a dart with an extremely low level of grip, I’d imagine that the deep cut scallops will aid in consistency while throwing, owing to the ease in which the optimum position of grip can be achieved.
Mission Saturn Hyperion
While perhaps a controversial design, the Hyperion’s are no doubt a stunning dart to look at. Featuring an arrow-shaped design, complete with two singular rings towards the rear and a sandblasted centre of the barrel, these darts are sure to turn heads wherever you use them. As is the case with the entirety of the Saturn range, the barrel offers very little in the way of grip, yet makes up for it with a defined grip-position, just on or behind the crest of the taper itself. With a longer tapered point, such as the Mission Sniper Titan Pro used by Josh Rock, I’d love to see just how tightly these darts could be grouped.
Mission Saturn Titan
The third and final dart in the Saturn range is the Titan, which feature a thicker barrel, yet with an extreme taper. Much like the Hyperion’s, I’d love to see just how closely these darts could be grouped, something that would be aided by the fact the taper itself appears to cover around 80% of the total barrel length. The sandblased section will offer minimal grip – for me, however, I’m interested to know the target audience for the barrel. The taper appears too narrow to firmly grip onto, and yet the rear section appears too thick to get a comfortable hold on. They look like a dart potentially tailored towards a very niche market.
Mission Joe Croft
I’ve lost track of the amount of social media posts I’ve seen, asking Mission when Joe Crofts new darts would be available – well here you have it! Drawing parallels from classic darts over the years, Crofty’s first darts as part of team Mission feature a moderate level of grip, with an interesting, bull nose taper, complete with a short extended area, perhaps for use with tapered points, or as an alternative to them. The darts feature purple electro-plated radial grooves, both towards the front and rear of the barrel, creating a truly striking design.
Mission Samurai and Ronin Case and Mat
As someone who’s always been interested in the history of the Japanese Samurai, and a lover of Samurai-based video games, the Samurai and Ronin ranges appealed to me right off the bat. The Ronin range especially is just incredible – I will need to get my hands on the Ronin case for sure!
In addition to all this, new flights have also been released for the Joe Croft and Saturn ranges!
