Wesley Plaisier was victorious on Sunday, in winning his third Challenge Tour title of his career, after defeating Damian Mol 5-4 in the Final, as the third weekend of the PDC’s second tier tour season ended in Leicester.
Plaisier, who was a runner-up in Event Ten back in April, went a step further on Sunday, as he reached the final firstly by recording victories against Kenny Neyens, Reece Robinson, Owen Maiden, Charlie Martin, Pal Szekely, Darren Armstrong and Sebastian Bialecki, to set up a clash with his compatriot, Mol.
The final began with back-to-back breaks of throw between the pair, before a run of six straight holds of throw, which sent the tie into a ninth and deciding leg, with Mol having the advantage of throw.
However, Plaisier produced a 15-dart break of throw in the decider to seal a 5-4 victory and deny his fellow Dutchman the opportunity of picking up a maiden PDC title of his career.
The PDC Winmau Challenge Tour returns between 16-18th August, with Events 16-20 taking place at the Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes. All live scores and results can be viewed via tv.dartconnect.com.
