Shane Hayward, Mareno Michels, Jim Long, Justin Hood and Chris Quantock all secured their places in Saturday’s finale on Friday after coming through their respective groups at the MODUS Super Series, to join Jeff Smith, the winner of Group A earlier in the week.
Haywood, who entered Friday’s play on 6 points from the opening day of Group C, topped the group overall, after winning four of his five matches, recording victories against Arne Spee, Peter Hudson, Nick Fullwell and Mareno Michels, with his only defeat coming against Ciaran Teehan, to end on 14 points from a possible 20 overall.
Mareno Michels also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after finishing 2nd overall on 14 points, whilst Ciaran Teehan finished 3rd on 12 points, Peter Hudson in 4th on 10 points, Arne Spee in 5th on 6 points and Nick Fullwell bottom on 4 points.
In Group B, Jim Long topped the group overall, despite only winning two of his four matches on Friday Evening, as he recorded victories against Adam Lipscombe and Adam Mould, with his two defeats coming against Justin Hood and Chris Quantock, to end on 12 points from a possible 16.
Justin Hood and Chris Quantock also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after the pair finished 2nd and 3rd respectively overall, with Hood ending on 10 points and Quantock on 8 points, whilst Adam Lipscombe finished 4th on 6 points and Adam Mould bottom on 4 points.
The MODUS Super Series continues on Saturday with the conclusion of Week Two, as the six players prepare to battle it out for just one spot up at Champions Week, with the action commencing from 7:30pm BST. Play will be streamed live on the MODUS YouTube channel or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
