McEwan Takes MSS Lead

Jim McEwan will take a 2-point lead into the final day of Group A action at the MODUS Super Series, winning 3 out of his 5 matches on Day 2 in Portsmouth. 

The Scot leads 2nd placed Timothy Verbrugghe by 2 points, after the Belgian international also picked up 6 points on Tuesday at the Live Lounge. 

Timothy kickstarted his Day 2 campaign with a fantastic finishing display against the Group A leader, hitting finishes of 161, 138 and 122 in a 4-2 victory over McEwan in the opening match. 

Chucky lost out in his second match against ADC Qualifier Paul Lewis, who fired in a 156 checkout to break in the opening leg, before clinching a 4-3 win. 

The Scottish international responded well after that, winning his remaining three matches against Brian Raman, Neil Duff and Scott Taylor, to end with 14 points after Day 2. 

Timothy Verbrugghe sits 2 points behind McEwan in 2nd, with Neil Duff and Scott Taylor in close pursuit on 10 points. 

Paul Lewis picked up 3 wins on Day 2 to end the day in 5th with 8 points, whilst Brian Raman added a further 2 wins to his tally in ending the day on 6 points. 

The final day of Group A in Week 5 of Series 8 begins on Wednesday from 9:30am, but who will top the group and secure a place on Saturday at Finals Night.
