Nine Dart Star Marvin Van Velzen and Conan Whitehead took the early lead on Thursday in ending Day One of their respective groups, top, as they look to join Bradley Brooks in Saturday’s finale at the Modus Super Series.
In Group B, Marvin Van Velzen took the early lead, after winning three of his four matches, as he recorded victories against Nathan Girvan, Thomas Lovely and Chas Barstow, with his only defeat coming against Harry Ward, to sit on 6 points from a possible 8 thus far.
During his victory against Barstow, Van Velzen fired in a perfect nine dart leg and became the first Dutchman to achieve that feat at the Super Series.
Elsewhere, three players in Harry Ward, Chas Barstow and Nathan Girvan ended the evening 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively overall on 4 points each, whilst Thomas Lovely sits bottom on 2 points.
Whitehead, who entered Group C having finished 5th in Group A earlier in the week, took the early lead, after winning four of his five matches, as he recorded victories against Mat Caste, Mike Gillet, Joe Croft and Stefan Bellmont, with his only defeat coming against Adrian Gray, to sit on 8 points from a possible 10 thus far.
Elsewhere, Adrian Gray also ended the day on 8 points, but sits in 2nd behind Whitehead due to a daily average across five matches, whilst three players in Joe Croft, Mike Gillet and Mat Caste sit 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively on 4 points each, with Stefan Bellmont sitting bottom on 2 points.
The Modus Super Series continues on Friday with players continuing to battle out as they aim to join Bradley Brooks in Saturday’s finale, with Whitehead and Van Velzen taking the early lead thus far. Group C will commence from 1pm BST and Group B will commence from 10pm BST.
