The Masters Ranked and Revamped

The PDC have revamped an existing event to effectively create a new early season ‘major’ and bolster their calendar of events.

The Masters will become a 32-player ranked event from 2025 and take place across four days from January 30-February 2 in an exciting expansion for the season-opening event.

The Masters has become hugely popular since being introduced in 2013, initially as a 16-player event before expanding to 24 players three years ago.

Following the sell-out success of the 2024 event – which was won by Stephen Bunting as he overcame five-time winner Michael van Gerwen 11-7 in the final at the Marshall Arena – the PDC has now announced an expanded format for The Masters.

Next year, 32 players will compete in The Masters, which will also now count towards the PDC Order of Merit and be the first ranked event of the new campaign.

The tournament will also expand to four days, with the first round being held across evening sessions on Thursday January 30 and Friday January 31.

The second round then takes place on Saturday February 1, with the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final taking place on Sunday February 2.

“The Masters has really grown in stature over the past decade and this new format will add further importance to what is already a significant event for competing players,” said PDC chief executive Matt Porter.

“The new format means that the 2025 season will begin with a bang as 32 players compete for a ranked title at the Marshall Arena, which has become a hugely popular venue for fans.”

Tickets for The Masters will go on staggered sale from Monday September 23, with an initial Priority Sale period for PDCTV Annual Members followed by a second Priority Window for fans who sign up via this link.

Any remaining tickets would then go on General Sale from Wednesday September 25.

Details of the format for The Masters will be confirmed in due course.
