Derek Coulson, Jimmy Van Schie, Steve West, Tom Sykes and Marvin Van Velzen secured their places in Saturday’s Champions Week finale on Friday after coming through their respective groups at the Modus Super Series, to join Connor Scutt, the winner of Group A earlier in the week.
In Group B, Steve West topped the group overall, despite only winning two of his four matches on Friday Evening, as he recorded victories against Richard Rowlands and Tom Sykes, with his two defeats coming against Adam Paxton and Marvin Van Velzen, to end on 10 points from a possible 16.
Elsewhere, Tom Sykes and Marvin Van Velzen also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after the pair finished 2nd and 3rd respectively overall, with Sykes ending on 10 points and Van Velzen on 8 points, whilst Richard Rowlands and Adam Paxton finished 4th and 5th on 6 points each.
Coulson, who entered Friday’s play on 8 points from the opening day of Group C, topped the group overall, after winning four of his five matches, as he recorded victories against Paul Hogan, Jim Long, Jimmy Van Schie and Thomas Banks, with his only defeat coming against Neil Duff, to end on 16 points from a possible 20 overall.
Elsewhere, Jimmy Van Schie also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after finishing 2nd overall on 12 points, edging past Neil Duff, who missed out in 3rd due to leg difference, whilst Jim Long finished 4th on 10 points, Paul Hogan in 5th on 8 points and Thomas Banks bottom on 2 points.
The Modus Super Series continues on Saturday with the conclusion of Champions Week with the six players battling it out for the £20,000 first prize, with play commencing from 7:30pm BST. Play will be streamed live on The Modus YouTube channel or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
