Kai Gotthardt was victorious on Saturday as he was crowned the winner of Week Four at the Modus Super Series, after defeating Jon Worsley in the final to secure a place in Champions Week and pick up the weekly £5,000 top prize.
Gotthardt, who entered the finale having won Group C on Thursday and Friday, began the night by winning just one of his two group phase matches, as he firstly suffered a defeat to Adam Lipscombe, before defeating Shane McGuirk to progress through to the Semi Finals.
The German came up against Shaun McDonald whitewashing the Scotsman, 4-0, to book his place in the final.
In the decider, Gotthardt came up against Jon Worsley, who’d defeated Shane McGuirk in the last four, and nothing separated the pair throughout the tie until Gotthardt sealed a deciding leg victory.
The 29-year-old booked his place in Champions Week for the first time and join Darius Labanauskas, Andreas Harrysson and Andy Hamilton.
The Modus Super Series returns on Monday with the start of Week Five, with the first of three days of Group A commencing, with the field including Fallon Sherrock, Devon Petersen and Stowe Buntz.
Play will commence from 9:30am BST and will be streamed live on the Modus YouTube channel or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
