Luke Littler tries his hand at new Village Darts Social with PDC partner
Village Hotel Club Warrington reveals a brand-new electronic darts game, just in time for the Christmas rush.
Village Hotel Club Warrington welcomed local darts sensation Luke Littler to try out the brand-new ‘Village Darts Social’ concept in the Pub & Grill on Thursday.
The brand new, multiplayer darts experience takes prime position in the hotel’s popular Pub & Grill and adds to the lively atmosphere of the local eatery.
The teenage darts superstar – who has won the Premier League and Grand Slam of Darts as well as reaching the World Darts Championship final in an amazing debut year – went head-to-head with Warrington Wolves players Ben Currie and Danny Walker along with hotel guests and leisure club members in a nail biting game of Shanghai and Killer.
As an Official Partner of the Professional Darts Corporation, Village Hotels will be keeping a close eye on how Luke performs in the forthcoming World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace – which begins on December 15 – and in particular if he can throw a very special nine-darter.
The PDC recently revealed that a £180,000 bonus would be paid by World Championship sponsors Paddy Power for every nine-darter hit as part of The BIGGER 180 campaign. The bonus is being shared between Prostate Cancer UK, the player who threw it and a lucky fan in the crowd.
However, as a bookmaker, Paddy Power have confirmed no under-18s would be eligible for the bonus, meaning 17-year-old Luke would be too young to take the prize money.
Village Hotels has stepped in to ensure he won’t miss out and will award him the prize fund if he hits the magic number!
A Village Hotels spokesperson said: “What Paddy Power and the PDC have done in supporting Prostate Cancer UK through The BIGGER 180 campaign has been remarkable, and the nine-darter bonus promises to make this year’s event bigger.
“Given what Luke has done in the sport already, and our close bond developed with the PDC since joining as a partner, we couldn’t see one of the biggest names miss out – so we wanted to do our bit.
“If it helps inspire Luke to hit the magic number, and if it means more money goes to saving lives as part of the wider campaign, then it’ll be a small price to pay.”
The opening of Village Darts Social in Warrington marks the fourth Village Hotel to welcome the new gaming experience. As the Pub & Grill enters its busiest time of year, it couldn’t have come at a better time on the run up to Christmas.
The new addition is ideal for groups looking for somewhere to enjoy a Christmas get-together, where up to 16 players can take to the oche to choose from 11 exciting games – from only £5 per person.
Sports fans can also watch action from the World Darts Championship from December 15-January 3 in their Pub & Grill across the UK.
