Cam Crabtree and Jannis Barkhausen were victorious on Friday, in winning Development Tour Events 11 & 12 respectively, as the third weekend of the PDC’s Youth Tour season commenced at Halle 39, Hildesheim.
Crabtree, who picked up a PDC Tour Card for the first time in his career back in January, reached the final of Event 11 firstly by recording victories against Lenny Schlueter, Nathan Girvan, Jurjen Van der Velde, Jamai Van den Herik, Viktor Tingstrom, Nathan Potter and Angelo Balsamo, to set up a clash with Adam Gawlas.
The final began with Gawlas taking the opener in 13 darts, before Crabtree rattled off three successive legs in 12,14 and 18 darts respectively to move 3-1 ahead in a race to five. Gawlas then halved the deficit in Leg Five with a 21 darter, before Crabtree won back-to-back legs and sealed a 5-2 victory in Leg Seven with a 17 darter to pick up a maiden Development Tour title as well as the £2,500 top prize.
In Group B, Jannis Barkhausen was victorious as he reached the final firstly by recording victories against Jerome Felder, Daan Beernink, Adam Gawlas, James Beeton, Cayden Smith, Finn Chudziak and Beau Greaves, to set up a clash with Owen Bates.
The final began with Barkhausen racing into a 2-0 lead, with winning legs coming in a total of 37 darts, before Bates halved the deficit in Leg Three with a 12-dart break of throw. Barkhausen then won back-to-back legs once again in 21 and 15 darts respectively to move 4-1 ahead and within one of victory. Bates did pull one leg back, before his German opponent sealed the victory in Leg Seven with a 20 dart hold of throw to pick up a maiden PDC title as well as the £2,500 top prize.
The PDC Winmau Development Tour weekend continues on Saturday, with Events 13 & 14 taking place in Hildesheim, with play commencing at 10:00 CEST (9:00 BST), as all live scores and results can be viewed at tv.dartconnect.com.
