The Amateur Darts Circuit’s second weekend of their 2025 Winmau Championship Tour provided an action packed quartet of events last Saturday and Sunday with the Women’s organisation (WADC) also holding their latest batch of Open Tour events.
The tours returned to Aylesbury’s Bradmoor Farm once again for events 5-8. The ADC ranking had Graham Hall topping the table after the first block of events but Christian Perez, Jack Tweddle and Carl Wilson were hot on his heels.
Saturday Events 5 & 6:
Saturday’s first event saw most of the favourites fall by the wayside but some lesser noted players have been having strong spells this season and the final four reflected that. Shaun Fox has had a great return to prominence, after a few years away from the limelight, and had already qualified for the UK Open earlier this season.
Matt Gallet has long been known as a hug talent and was even one of the original ‘New Kinds on the Oche’ TV show. He too has been away from the top flights of the game for a while but those who pay attention may have spotted his consistent improvement in these events and other recent open tournament.
It was Fox who won through an England versus Ireland final with a 5-3 win over Dean Finn-Forde. Shaun averaged over 90 in the final and fully deserved the win.
The day’s second event reached its climax with two more familiar names battling for the event 6 first prize. Jack Tweddell and Chas Barstow went all the way to a 9th leg decider with Tweddell edging our his fellow Englishman. The younger man had the advantage in all the major stats but could not get away from the the experienced Barstow until the very last opportunity.
Meanwhile the ladies had enjoyed a similarly mixed day of star names, youngster breaking through and women’s game stalwarts picking up the titles. Eleanor Cairns won through to pick up the first title on offer. The up and coming star overcame a (2-4) deficit to defeat legendary Deta Hedman and beg the £500 first prize.
The days second competition saw Gemma Hayter claim another WASDC crown as she overcame Angela Kirkwood (5-1) with a very impressive performance and an average close to 85.
Would Sunday be equally as unpredictable and mixed or would more familiar service be resumed?
